The Tulbagh MTB Trail Network covers approximately 80km of trails with over 30km of singletrack. Surrounded by spectacular mountain ranges, world-famous Wine Farms and great places to stay and eat, Tulbagh is fast becoming the next go-to destination for mountain bikers looking for new trails to experience. Despite being a relative new-comer on the local scene.
Tulbagh has a deep history with the Mountain biking community, hosting one of the earliest Cape Epic 10 years ago in 2011. Since then various Trailseeker events and the Cape Epic have repeatedly returned, including in 2021 which many of the riders rated as their favourite stage.
Local trail builder extraordinaire, Deon Wilkins, has been commissioned to build unique trails for the event over the years has resulted in many well known and respected Bone Trail as well as the secretive, Fanties climb and Assegaaibos descent, being left as a legacy. Formed back in 2012, The Tulbagh MTB Club has had renewed vigour and a new chairman instilled in 2021. We want to bring more trails to the Valley and put Tulbagh firmly onto the map of MTB holiday destinations. We have plans to extend the trail network on the Western side of the Valley and ultimately have a trail network that extends the full circumference of the Tulbagh Valley.
Our current routes are available on our website and have various starting points throughout the Valley to allow for easy access on and off the trail network. The Bone trail is a more technical single track ride, with the Valley and Farm trails more geared up for the beginner or someone looking for easy kilometres. There have been some new additions to the network added recently and we are excited to have Tygerberg Members are allowed to come and join us on our trail network.
